MONDAY

I'm sorry to have to say this, but we are asking for absolutely no visitors during the next few days. The ICU will actually turn visitors away at this time. Faith has a very elevated white count and they will be taking numerous blood draws to find the source of infection to effectively treat it. All precautions are being made and we are going in with scrubs and gloves. It will take a few days to get the true results back and until then....we have to be very careful about introducing any new germs into her room and in turn, to her.

Her blood work from last night did show yeast in the abdomen so they are already treating that. They are trying really hard to get her off the epi. because her feet are horrible. She has open multiple wounds on them and they are working on figuring out a way to isolate them and avoid infection entering through them (if it hasn't already).

Otherwise, her heart rate is stable as is her blood pressure. They are not able to remove more fluid from her right now because getting her off the epinepherine has become priority due to her feet. Once we wean her off that, we can concentrate on the fluid retention again. One step at a time.

Thank you for your understanding. Love you all and really enjoy the posts back to us!

  3. Just letting you know that from one mom of a special little girl to another, we are praying for you and Faith. Our girls are one year and 3 days apart in age. Madison has the same curly hair and sweet cheeks as your Faith. Praying that you see a breakthrough today in a positive way.

  4. Your family and Faith have been in our thoughts daily. Two of my children have CHD and my youngest is the same age as Faith..so even though I don't know your family well..I feel the connection and my heart goes out to you. I wish I could say something to help..but Faith has hung on this long and that shows her will to get better. That is a positive and to you I give a hug from one mom to another...

    Shelly & family,

You have been in my thoughts non stop. Keep your head up.....you are an amazing mother and your endurance is what keeps your family strong. You will make it through this adversity. Faith is strong just like you. Thank you for sharing this very personal journey with all of us. We support you and feel your pain! Heart hugs, Michelle

  7. Shelley, we're thinking and praying for you.  My heart aches for you and Monty.  Don't lose hope....when my son was at SMH, I would often go to the chapel and pray...and ask "WHY?".  I never got a straight answer, but this scripture was written on the wall and it helped me get through the pain...."The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him and I am helped."  Psalm 28:7.  Our church family is praying for Faith...they've never met her, but she's touching lives....if you need anything, you have my contact.  God bless!

  10. Dear Shelly and Monte,
Our friend, Desiree, told us about what you are going through with your precious Faith. I can't imagine the depth of emotions you are feeling, probably many at the same time - depth of love for Faith, longing for a miracle, the pain of seeing your daughter's struggle, etc. etc. etc. I only know that as much as you love your little Faith, God loves you just as much and more. As much as you care about what she is experiencing, He cares. Jeff and I are praying for you and for your daughter - may God give you guys continued strength. I loved what you wrote in your previous blog as a letter to Faith, Shelly. What a beautiful thing to be loved so much!
    Sincerely,
    Laurie Jennings

  13. Dear Friends,

I know you do not know me but our little girl had to have a heart transplant at 14 months old. More than anything I pray to GOD that you get this before the doctors talk you into doing something you don't want to do. Megan went into cardiac arrest and had a stroke 3 days before she got her heart. The doctors told us the brain injury was just too bad and that she would just be a vegtable the rest of her life. We just did not let them have that! We gave it to God! I cannot even begin to tell you how severe her brain injury was back then. They told us she was blind, deaf, possible brain dead, the whole nine. Today that little girl is a seven year old happy healthy 1st grader. The only think she is not doing is walking alone and she's almost there. I want to [ray for your little girl. I don't know where you are or how to get ahole of you. Please call us collect if you have to! 706-971-3640. Megan's website is:

    Her carepage name is megansjourney.

    Call us if you can.

    In Christ,

    Tammy Madden
