DAY 29 - update

The team met and no decisions have to be made today. Dr. Choy is not ready to give up yet, nor are we. A liver specialist is supposed to talk to us this afternoon and there is talk of another procedure to see if there is a block between her liver and pancreas. It is not common for children to have this, but it is a possibility and could possibly be what is making the liver have so much trouble. It is a non-invasive procedure, so they feel fairly safe in going ahead with it. I don't know when it will be scheduled for. I doubt today, but maybe tomorrow.

So, we have bought some time and can hold off going to "the room" for now. The music lady, Kathy, came by today and sang songs to Faith which Faith loved. She had her eyes open for all her favorite songs. It was beautiful.

We need more answers and more clarity before making any choices. I don't want her to suffer, I really don't, but I am not there yet and they are keeping her comfortable. We will see what the specialists have to say and go from there.

Thank you for all the prayers....they are desperately needed.
(By the way, Desiree, if you would like to come by with your pastor tonight, I would welcome it.)

  1. Thank you so much for this update. I am praying that something can be done for her liver to get it working, to stop the bleeding, to heal her and get her home.

    Your family is an inspiration.

  2. Shelly-I was thinking after my last post-Faith seems determined to fight and survive this, Dr. Choy didn't give up hope last time and he still has hope this time, plus she has a strong, wonderful family, I know it seems like the odds are stacked against her but I honestly believe the ball is in her court. Just my humble opinion and I support you in whatever you do-but I wouldn't give up. Remember the brick you saw"Keep Faith".

  4. "The room" is always a dreadful place to be and my hopes and prayers are that you do not need to make those decisions. I pray that she will have a good outcome with this next surgery, that the doctors will be full of the knowledge regarding her contiued bleeds and be able to fix all that is wrong. My thoughts remain with your family during these times. Try to get some rest so you can keep up your strength for Faith, and to keep an illness from falling upon you. As always, I am here if you need anything.
    with love, Tina

  5. Hey there Shelly and Monty,

I'm liking this Dr. Choy guy! Sounds like he understands Faith and how she isn't your typical patient with how there is always the less simple solutions to her problems. Just because it is not common, doesn't mean it's not Faith...she is just that...NOT COMMON! She is rather spectacular at that! Stay strong, you know what is best and you are doing just that.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you or the kids. They are all doing amazingly well because, as always, they do keep the Faith!

    Love you guys,
    Auntie Carrie and family

  6. Shelly & Monty,
How can I possibly find any words that could comfort you at a time. All my prayers and thoughts are with you, if there is anything I can do to help you or the family please let me know. A wise woman and very dear friend once told me it's just not fair that some times choices are made for us in this life that we can not always understand or control. Sometimes in our most desperate moments "Faith" is what gives us hope. I know you will make the right decision when and if it's necessary. Faith is such a fighter and miracles do happen.

  7. Andrea and I talked a lot tonight about Faith and your family. We just want you to know how much we care about Faith, and ALL of her family. We will be here for you in whatever way we can, and whatever way you want. Even if it's just sitting in the waiting area, in case you want to come out. Or provide a punching bag! No matter how God decides to continue this story, your entire family is supported and loved.

  8. Prayers your way from Honduras! I was a pediatric nurse in a children's hospital for 12 years, and have seen the strength in parents and children that amazes me even today - so in whatever plans God has for little Faith, He will provide you the Grace and Sufficiency each step of the way. Blessings to you and your family
